UNDER is a late-night collision of poetry, theatre and live music by playwright and poet Imogen Stirling, created with musician Susan Bear.

Steph has spent her adult life following a familiar pattern: pills, periods, relationships, expectations. The future seems predetermined – partnership, fertility, motherhood. Then something begins to pull her underground

In the Greek myth, Persephone is abducted into the underworld and condemned to stay after eating its pomegranate seeds. But what if she went willingly? What if she ate the seeds knowingly? What if the underworld offered something the world above could not?

Playful and sensual, UNDER explores female choice, sexual autonomy and the lives we are expected to want.

Why We Programmed UNDER

Imogen is an increasingly influential Scottish artist whose work delights in merging reality and myth and framing the world through an abstract poetic lens. This partnership with Susan Bear invites audiences to get lost in a dreamy late-night listen.
