New Directions
In 2019, Vanishing Point launched New Directions, an initiative that provides training, employment and networking opportunities for early-career directors based in Scotland.
Each year, we provide one early-career director with the opportunity to be our Associate Director. This means being Assistant Director for our main-stage show before going on to direct a small-scale - Unplugged - show which will be performed at venues of varying scales, across Scotland.
This opportunity aims to support the development of a promising director - enabling them to learn from a professional rehearsal room before putting that learning into practice by directing their own show. As well as the hands-on directing experience, the Associate Director will benefit from a mentoring relationship with the Vanishing Point core staff – tapping into their knowledge, experience and networks and gaining insight into the operations of an independent theatre company.
This is a paid opportunity - Associate Directors are paid no less than the current ITC/Equity agreed rates. Associate Directors are selected through an application and interview process. Details of our next opportunity will be announced on our website, via social media channels and on Creative Scotland’s Opportunities page.
