Striptease & Out At Sea
A politically-charged and bizarre double bill by master of the Theatre of the Absurd, Słavomir Mrożek.
In Striptease, two men are periodically instructed to remove an article of clothing by a menacing disembodied being, while in Out At Sea three men try to apply logic to decide which becomes dinner for the others.
Originally co-produced with the Citizens Theatre as part of their Close Season in 2015.
Press
“★★★★/★★★ Matthew Lenton’s adaptations of two companion pieces by late Polish playwright Slawomir Mrozek focus on social control and human agency and interaction, shot through with absurdist humour”
“The laugh-out-loud double-bill is a challenge and also a warning that leaves each to decide for themselves what true freedom looks like.”
“★★★★”
