In The Room is a response to the times we’re living in and how the socio-political moment constrains, frees or dictates the way theatre is created.
Led by Kate Craddock (Founder and Festival Director of Gateshead International Festival of Theatre) and socially engaged artist Louie Ingham, In The Room brings together practitioners and thinkers from Scotland and the north of England to envisage new ways of making new work, in two distinct geographical areas, which nevertheless have much in common. The room is a multidisciplinary space for freelance artists and imagineers.
In The Room is both a practical investigation and room wide conversation - most likely opening up more questions than giving answers.
Why We Programmed In The Room
It offers a vital environment in which freelance artists and practitioners can ask questions about the state of the arts in relation to the political climate, and their own place in it. It also offers participants the chance to meet fellow theatre people and potential collaborators.
