A work-in-progress night of early stage visual performance.

Future Works is a laid-back event where you can get a glimpse of shows still in the process of being made. The artists would love your feedback, whether by your presence in the theatre or through a chat with them afterwards in the bar. If you’re a practitioner yourself, it’s also a chance for you to socialise and discuss new work.

  • Carrot Cake by Pablo López Sánchez-Matas portrays the gradual transformation of Carlos Docampo into a carrot: a journey rooted in community, identity and the innate human search for acceptance and belonging. This piece is a call to the senses: full of dirt, flowers, carrots, and cake.

  • Getting On by Wils Wilson is a devised clown, object puppetry and physical theatre show created with real-life mother and son, Chloe Gallien and Dylan Read. Blurring the line between life and theatre, this show will explore what happens to our “double acts’ when the passing of time upends patterns and securities, and roles splinter and go into reverse?

  • Candlemaker by Fergus Dunnet, Gretchen Maynard‑Hahn and Julia Darrouy is a new piece of devised puppetry inspired by horror cinema and the visual storytelling language of graphic novels. The three artists bring together practices spanning puppetry, scenography, object work and playful devising.

  • Frank: The Melancholy Story of Balloon Boy and His Journey of Self Discovery by Sadiq Ali is a new solo work exploring identity through circus, object manipulation, clown, mask, mime and Chinese pole. Frank has a balloon for a head. His face can be drawn, erased, altered and even lost, making his identity fragile, temporary and external.
