As Flora starts work, it’s nearly Christmas. The longest night of the year and the stars are out. But soon the night shifts, as a torrent of crisis situations arises. Patients are piling up. Faster than normal. Doors swing open with new arrivals, but no one seems to be making for the exit. And the cases seem increasingly absurd. What started as a regular shift has become an odyssey of unmanageable proportions, as Flora fights her way through the fluorescent-lit corridors of Ward 7. Will it ever end? Who will end it?
An international co-production between acclaimed Scottish company Vanishing Point and brilliant Danish pioneers Katapult, Flora is a strange and thrilling night-time adventure, an absurd, painfully funny story about what it really means to care for other people.
Flora is visual, multilingual and fully subtitled, an international collaboration created by the teams that brought you Confessions of a Shinagawa Monkey and The Insider. This production continues Vanishing Point’s move towards a new form in international theatre, with the integration and understandability of multiple languages in a single show.
