Vanishing Point invites you to come with us behind the scenes of the practical steps and creative processes in the creation of international co-production Confessions of a Shinagawa Monkey.

This day-long workshop, led by Executive Producer Severine Wyper, Director Matthew Lenton, performer Sandy Grierson and puppeteer Ailie Cohen, is aimed at anyone interested in the process of making theatre internationally, whether you’re a producer, director, technician or curious audience member. We’ll use concrete examples, case studies, demonstrations and exercises to illustrate the practical and creative steps we took to make the show happen.

You can attend for the whole day, or choose the morning or afternoon session according to your interests.

[The MORNING SESSION focuses on producing. We share how the possibility for the show came about, how negotiations developed, how logistics were agreed and how the conditions were created for the artistic creation with Kanagawa Arts Theatre in Yokohama, Japan.

The AFTERNOON SESSION focuses on the creative process, through a series of development stages, culminating in how we discovered the Shinagawa Monkey itself. Using props, masks, exercises and animation, we’ll share the choices we made in bringing the monkey to life.]
